Trade cards were common in the 1800s, and often showed offbeat images that existed to build brand buzz. This is part of a collection we are working on of anthropomorphic vegetable people.
This card is based on an advertising trade card featuring a Tobacco Leaf Man for Williams, Clark & Co.’s Bone Fertilizer from 1885.
